$482 Billion Deficit

The news about a $482 Billion record deficit was yet another sign of this Republican administration’s irresponsible and immoral plundering of our Nation’s resources. When this administration took office, we were enjoying a record $160 Billion surplus. We now have a $482 Billion deficit. That means they have managed to plunder over $642 Billion since taking office. So much for fiscal conservatism. They have become the borrow and spend republicans at our detriment. While the haves and have mores – the Bush/Cheney/Rove/McCain base – keep getting richer, our people and Nation keep getting poorer. Let’s not let our children pay the price for our shortsighted approach. Let’s get things going in the correct direction and change our Country for the better. Our children deserve it.

The Palin/McCain ticket is touting itself as the agents of change. As mavericks who are going to reform federal earmarks. They claim that they are going to do something new to help our struggling Nation. Yet, the more they talk and the more information comes out about their plans and style, it become more and more clear that they are not the agents of change!!! They are the agents of SAME!!

This duo is arguably worse than the Bush/Cheney administration. Their policies are worse than what we have seen in the last 8 years. Their styles and world views are more extreme and aggressive than we have ever seen.

Electing Palin & McCain would continue the downward trajectory of this Great Nation. We can’t afford to have our military weakened fighting unjust wars. We can’t have our Nation decimated by storms while the government pays no attention. We can’t continue to let our economy and environment spiral downward while the McCains of the world consume more and pay less toward making this Great Nation amazing again. Their entire campaign is a based on lies and cannot be trusted.

Enough with the lies! The agents of SAME will do nothing to help this Country. They will only help themselves and their ultra rich friends.

The government is proposing a $700 Billion bailout of Wall Street and the ultra rich. My question is… where is our money???

Where is the plan to bail out the ordinary American tax payer? When there has been talk of rescuing ordinary Americans, the government has been slow to respond. Now that the rich are feeling the pinch, here comes Mr. Paulson and the rest of the government to the rescue. Why are our tax dollars being spent without our permission to bail out these shortsighted companies.

There are approximately 305,219,000 people living in the US. Wouldn’t it be great to have that $700 Billion divided among us? Instead, Mr. Paulson is busy rescuing his friends at Goldman Sachs.

Help ordinary Americans and not just Wall Street. I would be just as happy, if the money were spent on our Nation’s infrastructure. So, I ask:

Where is our money????? Why not give the average American Tax Payer a chance?

Using the financial crisis as an excuse, Sen. McCain is attempting to back out of his debate with Sen. Obama. The debate was supposed to take place on Friday. Now, Sen. McCain is claiming to be too concerned and too busy working on a solution to the financial crisis to have the debate.

The reality of it is that this is a real opportunity for Sen. McCain. Go to the debate and let the American people know how you will help the American public. Tell us your plans and your hopes for this great Nation. Show us how different and effective your plans could be. So, why would Sen. McCain not take advantage of this great opportunity? Well, I suspect, he doesn’t have anything worthwhile to say. Why doesn’t Sen. McCain take a break from his relentless attacks to talk about policy and details of his plans. Why doesn’t he explain why he believes that the fundamentals of our economy are sound?

There is one explanation for his cutting and running away from this debate. He simply doesn’t have anything productive to say. Or he hasn’t decided which one of his 7 homes he will prepare in. The reality is that the McCain/Lobbyist ticket will only help the haves and the have mores. Sen. McCain is not interested in the every day American and will run from any debate which would force him to reveal his true plans for our Nation. Write the McCain campaign and let them know that you want the debate to go forward. Selecting our next president is as important as dealing with any financial crisis. Don’t cut and run Sen. McCain. Stand and show us what you’ve got.

Get up, Stand up!!!!!

It’s time for us to take back our Country. For 8 years, this immoral and unethical administration has plundered our natural resources, destroyed our economy, and put our soldiers and Marines in harms way for their personal gain. All the while, their buddies on Wall Street and Haliburton have received tax cuts and no bid contracts for contributing to our County’s demise. They now ask us to keep our troops tied up for years while they raid the treasury to bail their buddies. $700 billion is what they are attempting to take from us to give to the rich and richer constituents of Mr. McCain and the Bush administration.

Mr. McCain and his policies are the same Bush/Cheney/Rove policies which have ruined this Country and cost us so many American lives, not to mention our credibility around the world. The debate underscored his backward thinking and inability to see a clear picture of how we are all going to get out of this mess.

As for Ms. Palin, well, she just doesn’t have the ability to form a coherent sentence. I don’t blame her for being who she is and for not having the knowledge or ability to lead or understand these complex issue. I blame Mr. McCain for picking a pretty – but not so bright – token as his running mate in the hopes of getting some of Ms. Clinton’s voters. The debate and his choice for VP clearly show that Ms. McCain is not ready to be honest with himself or with us. He is simply not ready to lead because he is still living in the past and loving the old ideas which got us into this horrible mess.

The time for these antiquated ideas and ill informed approaches have passed. Let’s stand up and reclaim our Nation by voting for the only real chance we have to get out of this mess. OBAMA 08

Gov. Palin is irrelevant and not ready – Neither is John McCain!!!!

So, we must ask ourselves, how has Gov. Palin gotten herself into this mess? How is it that she doesn’t know some basic facts about the world we live in? Why is it that she met more world leaders and had more contact with the outside world in one day (last Monday) than she had her entire life? Why is it that every time she opens her mouth it is a disaster?

The only answer is that she is not ready and the fact that she is spending all her time trying – unsuccessfully – to prove she is ready is a clear sign of that. The Gov. does not know basic facts and can’t answer simple questions. How can we even contemplate her as a VP? How can we possible consider John McCain for President of the United States when his judgment is off and his policies are outright wrong?

We can’t. We can’t afford another 4 years of what’s happened in the last 8 years. Let’s look forward and elect people who will have a chance to make things right.

Just read the following article and judge for yourself…. Is this a man we want running our country? Does he have the morals and values we want in our President?

His campaign mocks Sen. Obama for doing something as honorable as community organizing and being educated. While his life story is filled with drinking, crashing planes, and wasting our national resources. This man’s moral character is flawed. He cannot be trusted to lead our great nation.

I looked and sounded confused tonight. I didn’t have any answers so I resorted to talking about a steady hand at the tiller.

Senator, for your information, most boats no longer have tillers. This archaic reference only highlighted how out of touch he is with the American public.

Sen. McCain showed how irrelevant he and his ideas are, tonight. It was the same old tired John McCain who still wants to deregulate health care and send it down the same path as our failing banking system.

So, my friends, it is time to send Sen. McCain back to Arizona and Gov. Palin back to the Hockey stands. The McCain / Palin ticket would only continue the misguided and detrimental policies of the last 8 years by continuing the Bush policies and force this Country into even greater trouble. Our Nation and our children cannot afford that.

We can all do something positive and vote OBAMA/BIDEN come election day.

John McCain and the Keating Five.

When you have nothing to say, just throw mud. That’s what John McCain is doing. Instead of taking responsibility for the trouble our financial system is in and the failures of the Bush/Cheney/Rove/McCain policies of the last 8 years, the Sen. is throwing random and ineffective punches to try and salvage his failed presidential bid.

The first step toward recovery is admitting that you have done wrong. Sen. McCain still thinks his policies will work, even in the face of the largest crisis in our history. He wants to continue to coddle and give handouts to his buddies who own 7 or more multi-million dollar homes, while ordinary Americans are struggling to make ends meet. My friends, rest assured, he is no friend of yours. His policies will continue the wrong downward trajectory for this nation.

Don’t be fooled by the mindless attacks. Let’s stay on the issues and do something to help our nation change course for the better.

Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country

I have two questions we should all be asking ourselves:

What are we doing to make our Country a better place?

What are we doing to help Sen. Obama win in Nov. and implement real change?

Just read John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address from 1961. It is amazing how much of that speech is still applicable today!

Feel free to share your ideas.

Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You speech
Inaugural Address by John F. Kennedy – January 20th 1961

Inaugural Address

Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You speech

Vice President Johnson, Mr. Speaker, Mr. Chief Justice, President Eisenhower, Vice President Nixon, President Truman, reverend clergy, fellow citizens, we observe today not a victory of party, but a celebration of freedom – symbolizing an end, as well as a beginning – signifying renewal, as well as change. For I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our forebears prescribed nearly a century and three quarters ago.

The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe – the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.

We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans – born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage – and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this Nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.

This much we pledge – and more.

To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends. United, there is little we cannot do in a host of cooperative ventures. Divided, there is little we can do – for we dare not meet a powerful challenge at odds and split asunder.

To those new States whom we welcome to the ranks of the free, we pledge our word that one form of colonial control shall not have passed away merely to be replaced by a far more iron tyranny. We shall not always expect to find them supporting our view. But we shall always hope to find them strongly supporting their own freedom – and to remember that, in the past, those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside.

To those peoples in the huts and villages across the globe struggling to break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves, for whatever period is required – not because the Communists may be doing it, not because we seek their votes, but because it is right. If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.

To our sister republics south of our border, we offer a special pledge – to convert our good words into good deeds – in a new alliance for progress – to assist free men and free governments in casting off the chains of poverty. But this peaceful revolution of hope cannot become the prey of hostile powers. Let all our neighbors know that we shall join with them to oppose aggression or subversion anywhere in the Americas. And let every other power know that this Hemisphere intends to remain the master of its own house.

To that world assembly of sovereign states, the United Nations, our last best hope in an age where the instruments of war have far outpaced the instruments of peace, we renew our pledge of support – to prevent it from becoming merely a forum for invective – to strengthen its shield of the new and the weak – and to enlarge the area in which its writ may run.

Finally, to those nations who would make themselves our adversary, we offer not a pledge but a request: that both sides begin anew the quest for peace, before the dark powers of destruction unleashed by science engulf all humanity in planned or accidental self-destruction.

We dare not tempt them with weakness. For only when our arms are sufficient beyond doubt can we be certain beyond doubt that they will never be employed.

But neither can two great and powerful groups of nations take comfort from our present course – both sides overburdened by the cost of modern weapons, both rightly alarmed by the steady spread of the deadly atom, yet both racing to alter that uncertain balance of terror that stays the hand of mankind’s final war.

So let us begin anew – remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof. Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate.

Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belabouring those problems which divide us.

Let both sides, for the first time, formulate serious and precise proposals for the inspection and control of arms – and bring the absolute power to destroy other nations under the absolute control of all nations.

Let both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its terrors. Together let us explore the stars, conquer the deserts, eradicate disease, tap the ocean depths, and encourage the arts and commerce.

Let both sides unite to heed in all corners of the earth the command of Isaiah – to “undo the heavy burdens -. and to let the oppressed go free.”

And if a beachhead of cooperation may push back the jungle of suspicion, let both sides join in creating a new endeavour, not a new balance of power, but a new world of law, where the strong are just and the weak secure and the peace preserved.

All this will not be finished in the first 100 days. Nor will it be finished in the first 1,000 days, nor in the life of this Administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin.

In your hands, my fellow citizens, more than in mine, will rest the final success or failure of our course. Since this country was founded, each generation of Americans has been summoned to give testimony to its national loyalty. The graves of young Americans who answered the call to service surround the globe.

Now the trumpet summons us again – not as a call to bear arms, though arms we need; not as a call to battle, though embattled we are – but a call to bear the burden of a long twilight struggle, year in and year out, “rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation” – a struggle against the common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself.

Can we forge against these enemies a grand and global alliance, North and South, East and West, that can assure a more fruitful life for all mankind? Will you join in that historic effort?

In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shank from this responsibility – I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it — and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God’s work must truly be our own.

While Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin are trying to win support from their fellow Prisoners (Yes, he called the American people prisoners in a speech the other day), the Country’s infrastructure and financial systems are plunging. So, why doesn’t Sen. McCain talk about the issues? Where are the details of his plans for our country? Why does he insist on perpetuating lies while avoiding the issues. How can he be president when he simply doesn’t get it?

Much like previous republican administrations, is he going to continue cutting taxes for the rich while increasing the burden to carry the load on the poor?

As Americans we cannot stand by and do nothing while our Great Nation is damages to such a degree. It is time to stand, speak out, and vote.

Just read John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address from 1961. It is amazing how much of that speech is still applicable today. Let’s not keep asking for a handout from our nation. Let’s stand up and elect a president who will stop the handouts to the super rich.

While Sen. McCain is busy with his partisan attacks and lies, Sen. Obama is working to help America move forward and repair the damage caused by the McCain/Bush economic policy. While the market is plunging, McCain has nothing to offer the American people. So, all he does is attack. The Obama plan is practical and can have a real impact. Great idea!!! Obama Proposes New Small Business Rescue Plan

Today, in Chillicothe, Ohio Senator Obama introduced a new short term proposal to address the credit crisis of struggling small businesses. Senator Obama’s goal is to put all tools on the table to ensure that we are taking the necessary steps to help Americans who are struggling. Many small business owners can’t even make their payroll or finance their holiday inventories. Obama’s proposals are one step to help them during this time of crisis.

NEW PROPOSAL: While the financial market rescue plan is designed to unfreeze credit which will indirectly benefit small businesses, Obama recognizes that small businesses need direct and immediate access to capital now. Today he is calling for a Small Business Rescue Plan to help small firms get the loans the need to conduct day-to-day operating expenses, undertake short-term investments, and meet payrolls. The plan will use the tools we have available through the Small Business Administration to aggressively extend credit to struggling firms, while providing tax cuts for small businesses to encourage job creation. With small businesses responsible for more than two-thirds of new job creation, this plan is vital to stemming job losses and turning our economy around.

Obama’s small business plan includes:

  • A Nationwide Emergency Lending Facility for Small Businesses
  • Expanding Small Business Administration Guarantees to Encourage Private Lending to Small Businesses
  • Temporary tax incentives to encourage small businesses to invest in jobs

In addition, Senator Obama has previously proposed:

  • Zero capital gains rate for investment in small businesses
  • Cut Taxes for the Vast Majority of Small Businesses
  • Create New Small Business Health Tax Credit

OBAMA PROPOSES NEW SMALL BUSINESS RESCUE PLANOctober 10, 2008

Today, in Chillicothe, Ohio Senator Obama offered steady leadership and introduced a new short term proposal to address the credit crisis of struggling small businesses.

A Nationwide Emergency Lending Facility for Small Businesses: Just as we did in the wake of 9/11, when businesses all around the country were facing economic injury, Barack Obama is calling for the Small Business Administration to directly lend to small businesses that cannot access other sources of capital. The facility will be run through the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Disaster Loan Program, which is designed to offer affordable, fixed- rate loans to small firms to meet operating expenses, undertake needed short-term investments, or to refinance debt. Loans should be available with an expedited approval and disbursement process, so that firms can access the credit needed to meet their operating expenses immediately.

Expanding Small Business Administration Guarantees to Encourage Private Lending to Small Businesses: Obama is calling for expanding the SBA’s key loan guarantee programs – 7(a) and 504 – by temporarily eliminating fees for borrowers and lenders and increasing the guarantee rate on private loans. These steps will give lenders new incentives to lend and help unlock credit for small firms. It will send a clear signal that the government is standing with small businesses and ensuring sources of loans.

Temporary tax incentives to encourage small businesses to invest in jobs. Obama will give small businesses additional incentive to make investments and start creating jobs again by providing temporary business tax incentives through 2009. The February 2008 stimulus bill increased maximum section 179 expenses to $250,000 but this expires in December 2008. This provision will encourage all firms to pursue investment in the coming months, but will benefit small firms in particular, who generally have smaller amounts of annual property purchases and so choose to expense the cost of their acquired property.

STEPS OBAMA HAS ALREADY PROPOSED:

Zero capital gains rate for investment in small businesses. Barack Obama believes that we need to encourage investment in small businesses to help create jobs and turn our economy around. That’s why Obama will eliminate all capital gains taxes on investments made in small and start-up businesses. Unlike John McCain, who wants to give $200 billion in new tax cuts to America’s largest and most profitable businesses, Barack Obama wants to cut taxes for the small businesses that create jobs but struggling with restricted access to credit alongside skyrocketing health care and energy costs.

Cut Taxes for the Vast Majority of Small Businesses: Barack Obama believes that we need to reduce burdens on small business owners, many of whom are struggling to succeed in the midst of our economic crisis.  Unlike John McCain, Obama has proposed direct tax cuts for small businesses, including zero capital gains for investments in small businesses and a new 50% tax credit for businesses that offer health care to their employees on behalf of their employees and to small businesses with no employees.  (see below). Obama will provide a $1000 Making Work Pay tax credit to 95 percent of workers and their families, which will help individuals with small business income, including the country’s more than 20 million self-employed individuals. And because the Obama plan preserves existing tax rates for families making less than $250,000 a year, nearly 99 % of small business owners won’t see any tax increase under the Obama plan.[1]

Create New Small Business Health Tax Credit: Barack Obama will exempt small businesses from any requirement to offer health insurance to their employees or contribute on their behalf. Instead, he will give small businesses new incentives to provide health care with a Small Business Health Tax Credit. The Obama Small Business Health Tax Credit will provide a refundable credit of up to 50 percent on premiums paid by small businesses.

Sen. Obama talks about the issues while Sen. McCain spews venom

It seems like every headline is about Sen. Obama talking substantively about his plans to help this Country while Sen. McCain and his lipsticked bull dog of a running mate engage in frivolous attacks on Sen. Obama. They accuse him of everything under the sun while ignoring the damage their Bush policies have done to this Country. Let’s recap some of the problems we have:

Over 4,400 US Service Men & Women are dead in a war that should never have been started.

Trillions of Dollars are being sent to fight that war. This means that the money is not getting spent in the US and is going to another country.

Our economy is in the biggest slide since the Great Depression.

The free markets have been destroyed because of their deregulation and greed.

We just spent $700 Billion of our tax payer money to try and clean up the mess and it isn’t over yet.

How much of your retirement did you lose this week? How many jobs have been lost in this year alone. Can we blame Sen. McCain for running from the issues?

These are not policies which should be rewarded. John McCain will continue to plunge this Country into the abyss. We can’t and our children can’t afford it. No McCain!! Go Obama!!

Which McCain will be running today?

From a man who has leveled the charge of flip flopper against many of his opponents, Sen. McCain sure does a lot of contradicting himself. Perhaps Gov. Palin can lick her finger and stick it in the air – today – and let him know which way the wind is blowing. I’m sure it will make a difference in what he says and what his policies will be today. Oh wait, no need to have policies when you are busy stirring up a mob. Is this the kind of straight talk Sen. McCain wants to take to the White House?

Why has John McCain lost his moral compass?

Why should we trust Gov. Palin when she can’t be honest with us? Why should we trust Sen McCain when he can’t select an honest running mate? See for yourself.

Senator Obama’s Economic Rescue Plan for the Middle Class

Senator Obama delivered a major economic policy address to lay out his economic rescue plan for the middle class in Toledo, Ohio this afternoon.

He unveiled his Economic Rescue Plan for The Middle Class. This is a comprehensive four-part plan to deal with the immediate crisis that builds on proposals he has previously announced and includes several major new ideas.

We can’t wait to help workers and families and communities who are struggling right now – who don’t know if their job or their retirement will be there tomorrow; who don’t know if next week’s paycheck will cover this month’s bills. We need to pass an economic rescue plan for the middle-class and we need to do it now. Today I’m proposing a number of steps that we should take immediately to stabilize our financial system, provide relief to families and communities, and help struggling homeowners. It’s a plan that begins with one word that’s on everyone’s mind, and it’s spelled J-O-B-S.

We’ve already lost three-quarters of a million jobs this year, and some experts say that unemployment may rise to 8% by the end of next year. We can’t wait until then to start creating new jobs. That’s why I’m proposing to give our businesses a new American jobs tax credit for each new employee they hire here in the United States over the next two years.

We will also save one million jobs by creating a Jobs and Growth Fund that will provide money to states and local communities so that they can move forward with projects to rebuild and repair our roads, our bridges, and our schools. A lot of these projects and these jobs are at risk right now because of budget shortfalls, but this fund will make sure they continue.

…At a time when the ups and downs of the stock market have rarely been so unpredictable and dramatic, we also need to give families and retirees more flexibility and security when it comes to their retirement savings. …Since so many Americans will be struggling to pay the bills over the next year, I propose that we allow every family to withdraw up to 15% from their IRA or 401(k) – up to a maximum of $10,000 – without any fine or penalty throughout 2009. This will help families get through this crisis without being forced to make painful choices like selling their homes or not sending their kids to college.

…For those Americans in danger of losing their homes, today I’m also proposing a three-month moratorium on foreclosures. If you are a bank or lender that is getting money from the rescue plan that passed Congress, and your customers are making a good-faith effort to make their mortgage payments and re-negotiate their mortgages, you will not be able to foreclose on their home for three months. We need to give people the breathing room they need to get back on their feet.

…It also means promoting a new ethic of responsibility. Part of the reason this crisis occurred is that everyone was living beyond their means – from Wall Street to Washington to even some on Main Street. CEOs got greedy. Politicians spent money they didn’t have. Lenders tricked people into buying home they couldn’t afford and some folks knew they couldn’t afford them and bought them anyway.

We’ve lived through an era of easy money, in which we were allowed and even encouraged to spend without limits; to borrow instead of save.

Now, I know that in an age of declining wages and skyrocketing costs, for many folks this was not a choice but a necessity. People have been forced to turn to credit cards and home equity loans to keep up, just like our government has borrowed from China and other creditors to help pay its bills.

But we now know how dangerous that can be. Once we get past the present emergency, which requires immediate new investments, we have to break that cycle of debt. Our long-term future requires that we do what’s necessary to scale down our deficits, grow wages and encourage personal savings again.

It’s a serious challenge. But we can do it if we act now, and if we act as one nation. We can bring a new era of responsibility and accountability to Wall Street and to Washington. We can put in place common-sense regulations to prevent a crisis like this from ever happening again. We can make investments in the technology and innovation that will restore prosperity and lead to new jobs and a new economy for the 21st century. We can restore a sense of fairness and balance that will give ever American a fair shot at the American dream. And above all, we can restore confidence – confidence in America, confidence in our economy, and confidence in ourselves.

Obama’s plan includes four new major ideas about job creation, relief to families, relief to homeowners and responding to the financial crisis:

Job Creation: A New American Jobs Tax Credit. Obama is calling for a temporary tax credit for firms that create new jobs in the United States over the next two years.

Relief to Families: Penalty-Free Withdrawals from IRAs and 401(k)s in 2008 and 2009. Obama is calling for new legislation to allow families to withdraw 15% of their retirement savings – up to a maximum of $10,000 – without facing a tax-penalty this year (including retroactively) and next year.

Relief to Homeowners: 90 day foreclosure moratorium for homeowners that are acting in good faith. Financial institutions that participate in the Treasury’s financial rescue plan should be required to adhere to a homeowners code of conduct, including a 90-day foreclosure moratorium for any homeowners living in their homes that are making good faith efforts pay their mortgages.

Responding to the Financial Crisis: A Lending Facility to Address the Credit Crisis for States and Localities. Obama is calling on the Federal Reserve and the Treasury to work to establish a facility to lend to state and municipal governments, similar to the steps the Fed recently took to provide liquidity to the commercial paper market.

Obama’s plan also calls for temporarily eliminating taxes on unemployment insurance benefits; keeping all options on the table to help our automakers weather the financial crisis; having the Fed and Treasury prepare for guaranteeing a broader range of liabilities of the banking system; and instructing Treasury to help unfreeze markets for individual mortgages, student loans, car loans, loans for multi-family dwellings and credit card loans.

Remarks of Senator Barack Obama
“A Rescue Plan for the Middle-Class”
As Prepared for Delivery
Monday, October 13th, 2008
Toledo, Ohio

We meet at a moment of great uncertainty for America. The economic crisis we face is the worst since the Great Depression. Markets across the globe have become increasingly unstable, and millions of Americans will open up their 401(k) statements this week and see that so much of their hard-earned savings have disappeared.

The credit crisis has left businesses large and small unable to get loans, which means they can’t buy new equipment, or hire new workers, or even make payroll for the workers they have. You’ve got auto plants right here in Ohio that have been around for decades closing their doors and laying off workers who’ve never known another job in their entire life.

760,000 workers have lost their jobs this year. Unemployment here in Ohio is up 85% over the last eight years, which is the highest it’s been in sixteen years. You’ve lost one of every four manufacturing jobs, the typical Ohio family has seen their income fall $2,500, and it’s getting harder and harder to make the mortgage, or fill up your gas tank, or even keep the electricity on at the end of the month. At this rate, the question isn’t just “are you better off than you were four years ago?”, it’s “are you better off than you were four weeks ago?”

I know these are difficult times. I know folks are worried. But I also know this – we can steer ourselves out of this crisis. Because we are the United States of America. We are the country that has faced down war and depression; great challenges and great threats. And at each and every moment, we have risen to meet these challenges – not as Democrats, not as Republicans, but as Americans.

We still have the most talented, most productive workers of any country on Earth. We’re still home to innovation and technology, colleges and universities that are the envy of the world. Some of the biggest ideas in history have come from our small businesses and our research facilities. It won’t be easy, but there’s no reason we can’t make this century another American century.

But it will take a new direction. It will take new leadership in Washington. It will take a real change in the policies and politics of the last eight years. And that’s why I’m running for President of the United States of America.

My opponent has made his choice. Last week, Senator McCain’s campaign announced that they were going to “turn the page” on the discussion about our economy so they can spend the final weeks of this election attacking me instead. His campaign actually said, and I quote, “if we keep talking about the economy, we’re going to lose.” Well Senator McCain may be worried about losing an election, but I’m worried about Americans who are losing their jobs, and their homes, and their life savings. They can’t afford four more years of the economic theory that says we should give more and more to millionaires and billionaires and hope that prosperity trickles down to everyone else. We’ve seen where that’s led us and we’re not going back. It’s time to turn the page.

Over the course of this campaign, I’ve laid out a set of policies that will grow our middle-class and strengthen our economy in the long-term. I’ll reform our tax code so that 95% of workers and their families get a tax cut, and eliminate income taxes for seniors making under $50,000. I’ll bring down the cost of health care for families and businesses by investing in preventative care, new technology, and giving every American the chance to get the same kind of health insurance that members of Congress give themselves. We’ll ensure every child can compete in the global economy by recruiting an army of new teachers and making college affordable for anyone who wants to go. We’ll create five million new, high-wage jobs by investing in the renewable sources of energy that will eliminate the oil we currently import from the Middle East in ten years, and we’ll create two million jobs by rebuilding our crumbling roads, schools, and bridges.

But that’s a long-term strategy for growth. Right now, we face an immediate economic emergency that requires urgent action.

To fuel the real engine of job creation in this country, I’ve also proposed eliminating all capital gains taxes on investments in small businesses and start-up companies, and I’ve proposed an additional tax incentive through next year to encourage new small business investment. It is time to protect the jobs we have and to create the jobs of tomorrow by unlocking the drive, and ingenuity, and innovation of the American people. And we should fast track the loan guarantees we passed for our auto industry and provide more as needed so that they can build the energy-efficient cars America needs to end our dependence on foreign oil.

The second part of my rescue plan is to provide immediate relief to families who are watching their paycheck shrink and their jobs and life savings disappear. I’ve already proposed a middle-class tax cut for 95% of workers and their families, but today I’m calling on Congress to pass a plan so that the IRS will mail out the first round of those tax cuts as soon as possible. We should also extend and expand unemployment benefits to those Americans who have lost their jobs and are having a harder time finding new ones in this weak economy. And we should stop making them pay taxes on those unemployment insurance benefits as well.

At a time when the ups and downs of the stock market have rarely been so unpredictable and dramatic, we also need to give families and retirees more flexibility and security when it comes to their retirement savings.

I welcome Senator McCain’s proposal to waive the rules that currently force our seniors to withdraw from their 401(k)s even when the market is bad. I think that’s a good idea, but I think we need to do even more. Since so many Americans will be struggling to pay the bills over the next year, I propose that we allow every family to withdraw up to 15% from their IRA or 401(k) – up to a maximum of $10,000 – without any fine or penalty throughout 2009. This will help families get through this crisis without being forced to make painful choices like selling their homes or not sending their kids to college.

The third part of my rescue plan is to provide relief for homeowners who are watching their home values decline while their property taxes go up. Earlier this year I pushed for legislation that would help homeowners stay in their homes by working to modify their mortgages. When Secretary Paulson proposed his original financial rescue plan it included nothing for homeowners. When Senator McCain was silent on the issue, I insisted that it include protections for homeowners. Now the Treasury must use the authority its been granted and move aggressively to help people avoid foreclosure and stay in their homes. We don’t need a new law or a new $300 billion giveaway to banks like Senator McCain has proposed, we just need to act quickly and decisively.

I’ve already proposed a mortgage tax credit for struggling homeowners worth 10% of the interest you pay on your mortgage and we should move quickly to pass it. We should also change the unfair bankruptcy laws that allow judges to write down your mortgage if you own six or seven homes, but not if you have only one. And for all those cities and small towns that are facing a choice between cutting services like health care and education or raising property taxes, we will provide the funding to prevent those tax hikes from happening. We cannot allow homeowners and small towns to suffer because of the mess made by Wall Street and Washington.

For those Americans in danger of losing their homes, today I’m also proposing a three-month moratorium on foreclosures.

Finally, this crisis has taught us that we cannot have a sound economy with a dysfunctional financial system. We passed a financial rescue plan that has the promise to help stabilize the financial system, but only if we act quickly, effectively and aggressively. The Treasury Department must move quickly with their plan to put more money into struggling banks so they have enough to lend, and they should do it in a way that protects taxpayers instead of enriching CEOs. There was a report yesterday that some financial institutions participating in this rescue plan are still trying to avoid restraints on CEO pay. That’s not just wrong, it’s an outrage to every American whose tax dollars have been put at risk. No major investor would ever make an investment if they didn’t think the corporation was being prudent and responsible, and we shouldn’t expect taxpayers to think any differently. We should also be prepared to extend broader guarantees if it becomes necessary to stabilize our financial system.

I also believe that Treasury should not limit itself to purchasing mortgage-backed securities – it should help unfreeze markets for individual mortgages, student loans, car loans, and credit card loans.. And I think we need to do even more to make loans available in two very important areas of our economy: small businesses and communities.

On Friday, I proposed Small Business Rescue Plan that would create an emergency lending fund to lend money directly to small businesses that need cash for their payroll or to buy inventory. It’s what we did after 9/11, and it allowed us to get low-cost loans out to tens of thousands of small businesses. We’ll also make it easier for private lenders to make small business loans by expanding the Small Business Administration’s loan guarantee program. By temporarily eliminating fees for borrowers and lenders, we can unlock the credit that small firms need to pay their workers and keep their doors open. And today, I’m also proposing that we maintain the ability of states and local communities that are struggling to maintain basic services without raising taxes to continue to get the credit they need.

Congress should pass this emergency rescue plan as soon as possible. If Washington can move quickly to pass a rescue plan for our financial system, there’s no reason we can’t move just as quickly to pass a rescue plan for our middle-class that will create jobs, provide relief, and help homeowners. And if Congress does not act in the coming months, it will be one of the first things I do as President of the United States. Because we can’t wait any longer to start creating new jobs; to help struggling communities and homeowners, and to provide real and immediate relief to families who are worried not only about this month’s bills, but their entire life savings. This plan will help ease those anxieties, and along with the other economic policies I’ve proposed, it will begin to create new jobs, grow family incomes, and put us back on the path to prosperity.

I won’t pretend this will be easy or come without cost. We’ll have to set priorities as never before, and stick to them. That means pursuing investments in areas such as energy, education and health care that bear directly on our economic future, while deferring other things we can afford to do without. It means scouring the federal budget, line-by-line, ending programs that we don’t need and making the ones we do work more efficiently and cost less.

It also means promoting a new ethic of responsibility.

This country and the dream it represents are being tested in a way that we haven’t seen in nearly a century. And future generations will judge ours by how we respond to this test. Will they say that this was a time when America lost its way and its purpose? When we allowed our own petty differences and broken politics to plunge this country into a dark and painful recession?

Or will they say that this was another one of those moments when America overcame? When we battled back from adversity by recognizing that common stake that we have in each other’s success?

This is one of those moments. I realize you’re cynical and fed up with politics. I understand that you’re disappointed and even angry with your leaders. You have every right to be. But despite all of this, I ask of you what’s been asked of the American people in times of trial and turmoil throughout our history. I ask you to believe – to believe in yourselves, in each other, and in the future we can build together.

Together, we cannot fail. Not now. Not when we have a crisis to solve and an economy to save. Not when there are so many Americans without jobs and without homes. Not when there are families who can’t afford to see a doctor, or send their child to college, or pay their bills at the end of the month. Not when there is a generation that is counting on us to give them the same opportunities and the same chances that we had for ourselves.

We can do this. Americans have done this before. Some of us had grandparents or parents who said maybe I can’t go to college but my child can; maybe I can’t have my own business but my child can. I may have to rent, but maybe my children will have a home they can call their own. I may not have a lot of money but maybe my child will run for Senate. I might live in a small village but maybe someday my son can be president of the United States of America.

Now it falls to us. Together, we cannot fail. Together, we can overcome the broken policies and divided politics of the last eight years. Together, we can renew an economy that rewards work and rebuilds the middle class. Together, we can create millions of new jobs, and deliver on the promise of health care you can afford and education that helps your kids compete. We can do this if we come together; if we have confidence in ourselves and each other; if we look beyond the darkness of the day to the bright light of hope that lies ahead. Together, we can change this country and change this world. Thank you, God bless you, and may God bless America.

Meet Joe the Plumber

The so called conservatives have said this clip shows that Sen. Obama is a socialist. But, what they won’t tell you is that the McCain policies simply redistributes the wealth up to the super rich. By the way, he and his wife along with their 7 homes are part of that group. For 8 years, the Republicans have taken money from our people and given them to the super rich corporations. All the while, ordinary Americans have suffered and our jobs have been shipped overseas. Sen. McCain’s plans won’t help Joe, they won’t help you. But, they will help the haves and the have mores. These are his friends, neighbors and the Bushes & Cheneys of the world. So why isn’t it socialism when the wealth is distributed to the rich?

Sen. Obama’s plan makes sense and will help our Country as a whole. Don’t be fooled by the smoke screen.

McCain the Socialist & Samuel the the unlicensed plumber

There has been a lot of talk about Joe the imposter…. oh, I mean Joe the plumber. Let’s get a few facts about Joe on the table.

His name is Samuel

He is not a licensed plumber.

He claims to work under the license of another plumber. Turns out, that his boss doesn’t have a license either.

The company he works for has two employees. His boss and him. So, you can imagine how much they would have to charge to make $250 to $280K a year. Therefore, it is a logical inference that the company does not make such sums and that Samuel doesn’t have the kind of cash to buy a company with that kind of revenue. He should get his license first and then he may have some credibility.

The only other facts we need to know is that Joe is a republican who thinks he is smarter than Sen. Obama. Unfortunately, Sen. McCain thinks he is too. Unfortunately, Joe doesn’t realize that there is only one person in this race who is going to bring actual change that will help him. Both Joe (I mean Samuel) and Sen. McCain are mistaken. Here is why:

Under Sen. Obama’s plan, Samuel’s taxes would go down. If he cares so much about his taxes, why would he vote for McCain. Oh wait, he doesn’t care about taxes because he hasn’t paid about $1,200 of taxes he owes. Sen. McCain, on the other hand, keeps using this man as an example of how Sen. Obama’s plan is socialist.

Sen. I have a news flash for you. For the first time in our history our government owns portions of or has taken over banks & other financial institutions. Therefore, we are now closer than we have ever been to the systems in place in China and the systems which were in place in the USSR. In case anyone has been a sleep the last 8 years or the last few weeks, this debacle has occurred under the watch of the Republicans. Our entire financial system is now more socialist because of Republican mismanagement and dishonesty. The policies which lead to this mess were clearly supported by Sen. McCain.

Oh yes, under this republican administration, we have set a record deficit of over $600 Billion, as well. Way to reduce government size and spending Sen. McCain!!! Way to promote free markets!!! Way to expand opportunity for everyday Americans to create new wealth.

Lastly, who would benefit from the McCain tax policy and his ideas about deregulation?  The McCains would save over $350,000 under his tax plan. He — or I should say his wife — would save more than 90+% of Americans make. While the McCains and their super rich friends would save in the hundreds of thousands and their companies would save in the millions (while exporting our jobs) the taxes for ordinary Americans would stayed the same while our cost of living and economic situations deteriorate. Even if he reduces taxes for ordinary Americans, isn’t it socialism for Sen. McCain to get a $350,000 break when the rest of us have to pay for his cuts?

The question is this: Why isn’t it socialism when we give $350,000 to someone who owns 7 multi-million dollar homes and has more money than he can spend, when we call a tax cut for you – the ordinary American – socialism? How may people do you know who make over $250,000?

McCain’s plan is simply socialism for the rich at our costs. Don’t be fooled by the smoke and mirrors.

As for Samuel, he needs to open his eyes and see what’s coming. He is a prop in the McCain Socialist machine. Hopefully, he won’t set his plans to buy the business back too much by going on the campaign trail.

Shouldn’t he be studying for his plumber’s license?

Gen. Powell was eloquent and thoughtful in his endorsement. Those who believe he betrayed the Republican party should consider their own loyalties. Our loyalties are to this Country, its Constitution, its People (all Americans – not just the rich), and its Troops. Gen. Powell clearly demonstrated his love for his Country and went against his own friend because he truly believes that Sen. Obama is the best choice. He should be commended for his bravery, in making this call.

We all know that John McCain’s involvement in the Keating Five was part of the third biggest financial scandal we as a Nation have ever faced. He and his adamant support for the antiquated Bush policies have lead us to the largest financial crisis in our history. Alan Greenspan told the House Oversight and Reform Committee in prepared testimony that ”We are in the midst of a once-in-a century credit tsunami”. A credit tsunami.

John McCain should have gotten the clue about his failed and antiquated policies. But, he still thinks that things are going well because things are going well for him and his wife. In fact, he believes that things are going well enough that he has to protect the assets of people who make more than $250,000 a year. His tax plan would give people in his wife’s income bracket a tax break of more than $360,000 a year. While your taxes would stay the same, his taxes would decrease more than most people make. A bit self-serving don’t you think?

John McCain will only continue to perpetuate policies which will make the credit tsunami worse. Our Nation deserves better. Sen. Obama’s plans actually have a chance to make a difference and make things better for all Americans not just those with 7 multi million dollar mansions. His plan is socialism for the rich!!! Let’s give all Americans a chance not just those with lots of money.

The associated press is reporting the following:

“Carlson, ex-GOP Minn. governor, backs Obama

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Arne Carlson, a former Republican governor in Minnesota, has endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Carlson said Thursday that the Illinois senator’s stances on the Iraq war, the economy and green energy goals won him over. Carlson, who served from 1991 to 1998, also cited recent comments by GOP Congresswoman Michele Bachmann questioning whether politicians have “pro-America or anti-America views.”

“Regardless of our party, regardless of our partisan inclinations, there is no interest more compelling than the interest in the well-being of the United States,” Carlson said at a gathering of Obama supporters at the state Capitol.”

If this article is an indication, we are in for a world of hurt when Ms. Palin gets to the office and continues the fleecing of the American tax payers. If these allegations are true, it only shows that our Nation has a long ways to go. It is sad to think that there are people with such little value for human life. As a Nation, we can do much better than this.

Assassination plot targeting Obama disrupted

Monday, October 27, 2008

(10-27) 14:12 PDT WASHINGTON (AP) –

Federal agents have broken up a plot by two neo-Nazi skinheads to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and shoot or decapitate 102 black people, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives said Monday.

In court records unsealed Monday in U.S. District Court in Jackson, Tenn., federal agents said they disrupted plans to rob a gun store and target a predominantly African-American high school in a murder spree that was to begin in Tennessee. Agents said the skinheads did not identify the school by name.

Jim Cavanaugh, special agent in charge of ATF’s Nashville field office, said the two men planned to shoot 88 black people and decapitate another 14. The numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic in the white supremacist community.

The men also sought to go on a national killing spree after the Tennessee murders, with Obama as its final target, Cavanaugh told The Associated Press.

“They said that would be their last, final act — that they would attempt to kill Sen. Obama,” Cavanaugh said. “They didn’t believe they would be able to do it, but that they would get killed trying.”

An Obama spokeswoman traveling with the senator in Pennsylvania had no immediate comment.

The men, Daniel Cowart, 20, of Bells, Tenn., and Paul Schlesselman 18, of West Helena, Ark., are being held without bond. Agents seized a rifle, a sawed-off shotgun and three pistols from the men when they were arrested. Authorities alleged the two men were preparing to break into a gun shop to steal more.

Attorney Joe Byrd, who has been hired to represent Cowart, did not immediately return a call seeking comment Monday.

Cowart and Schlesselman are charged with possessing an unregistered firearm, conspiring to steal firearms from a federally licensed gun dealer, and threatening a candidate for president.

The investigation is continuing, and more charges are possible, Cavanaugh said.

The court records say Cowart and Schlesselman also bought nylon rope and ski masks to use in a robbery or home invasion to fund their spree, during which they allegedly planned to go from state to state and kill people.

For the Obama plot, the legal documents show, Cowart and Schlesselman “planned to drive their vehicle as fast as they could toward Obama shooting at him from the windows.”

“Both individuals stated they would dress in all white tuxedos and wear top hats during the assassination attempt,” the court complaint states. “Both individuals further stated they knew they would and were willing to die during this attempt.”

Cavanaugh said there’s no evidence — so far — that others were willing to assist Cowart and Schlesselman with the plot.

He said authorities took the threats very seriously.

“They seemed determined to do it,” Cavanaugh said. “Even if they were just to try it, it would be a trail of tears around the South.”

Yet another Republican has been convicted of abusing his power and lying about it. Turns out that Sen. Al Qaeda Endorses John McCain

Here is a piece from Nicholas Kristof of the NY Times about the endorsement. Even our enemies recognize that the Bush policies are horrible for our Country. Why doesn’t Sen. McCain?

====================
By NICHOLAS D. KRISTOF
Published: October 25, 2008

John McCain isn’t boasting about a new endorsement, one of the very, very few he has received from overseas. It came a few days ago:

“Al Qaeda will have to support McCain in the coming election,” read a commentary on a password-protected Islamist Web site that is closely linked to Al Qaeda and often disseminates the group’s propaganda.

The endorsement left the McCain campaign sputtering, and noting helplessly that Hamas appears to prefer Barack Obama. Al Qaeda’s apparent enthusiasm for Mr. McCain is manifestly not reciprocated.

“The transcendent challenge of our time [is] the threat of radical Islamic terrorism,” Senator McCain said in a major foreign policy speech this year, adding, “Any president who does not regard this threat as transcending all others does not deserve to sit in the White House.”

That’s a widespread conservative belief. Mitt Romney compared the threat of militant Islam to that from Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union. Some conservative groups even marked “Islamofascism Awareness Week” earlier this month.

Yet the endorsement of Mr. McCain by a Qaeda-affiliated Web site isn’t a surprise to security specialists. Richard Clarke, the former White House counterterrorism director, and Joseph Nye, the former chairman of the National Intelligence Council, have both suggested that Al Qaeda prefers Mr. McCain and might even try to use terror attacks in the coming days to tip the election to him.

“From their perspective, a continuation of Bush policies is best for recruiting,” said Professor Nye, adding that Mr. McCain is far more likely to continue those policies.

An American president who keeps troops in Iraq indefinitely, fulminates about Islamic terrorism, inclines toward military solutions and antagonizes other nations is an excellent recruiting tool. In contrast, an African-American president with a Muslim grandfather and a penchant for building bridges rather than blowing them up would give Al Qaeda recruiters fits.

During the cold war, the American ideological fear of communism led us to mistake every muddle-headed leftist for a Soviet pawn. Our myopia helped lead to catastrophe in Vietnam.

In the same way today, an exaggerated fear of “Islamofascism” elides a complex reality and leads us to overreact and damage our own interests. Perhaps the best example is one of the least-known failures in Bush administration foreign policy: Somalia.

Today, Somalia is the world’s greatest humanitarian disaster, worse even than Darfur or Congo. The crisis has complex roots, and Somali warlords bear primary blame. But Bush administration paranoia about Islamic radicals contributed to the disaster.

Somalia has been in chaos for many years, but in 2006 an umbrella movement called the Islamic Courts Union seemed close to uniting the country. The movement included both moderates and extremists, but it constituted the best hope for putting Somalia together again. Somalis were ecstatic at the prospect of having a functional government again.

Bush administration officials, however, were aghast at the rise of an Islamist movement that they feared would be uncooperative in the war on terror. So they gave Ethiopia, a longtime rival in the region, the green light to invade, and Somalia’s best hope for peace collapsed.

“A movement that looked as if it might end this long national nightmare was derailed, in part because of American and Ethiopian actions,” said Ken Menkhaus, a Somalia expert at Davidson College. As a result, Islamic militancy and anti-Americanism have surged, partly because Somalis blame Washington for the brutality of the Ethiopian occupiers.

“There’s a level of anti-Americanism in Somalia today like nothing I’ve seen over the last 20 years,” Professor Menkhaus said. “Somalis are furious with us for backing the Ethiopian intervention and occupation, provoking this huge humanitarian crisis.”

Patrick Duplat, an expert on Somalia at Refugees International, the Washington-based advocacy group, says that during his last visit to Somalia, earlier this year, a local mosque was calling for jihad against America — something he had never heard when he lived peacefully in Somalia during the rise of the Islamic Courts Union.

“The situation has dramatically taken a turn for the worse,” he said. “The U.S. chose a very confrontational route early on. Who knows what would have happened if the U.S. had reached out to moderates? But that might have averted the disaster we’re in today.”

The greatest catastrophe is the one endured by ordinary Somalis who now must watch their children starve. But America’s own strategic interests have also been gravely damaged.

The only winner has been Islamic militancy. That’s probably the core reason why Al Qaeda militants prefer a McCain presidency: four more years of blindness to nuance in the Muslim world would be a tragedy for Americans and virtually everyone else, but a boon for radical groups trying to recruit suicide bombers.

McCain’s desperate last attempts

With the election nearing, John McCain’s campaign and the neo-cons who run it have gotten increasingly desperate. The attacks have grown to be more hostile and personal. A man who was once respected for his supposed ability to stay honest even as politics got nasty has become everything which he supposedly despised. The reality is that John McCain is about John McCain. His decisions clearly show it.

Here are some facts:

When he wanted to win the Republican Presidential primaries, Mr. McCain told us that he supported the president and that he had voted for the President’s policies more than some of his Republican colleagues. He now attacks the President saying that he is a maverick in standing up to Pres. Bush. I guess he is only talking about the 10% of the time he didn’t vote for the Bush / Cheney policies. Sen. McCain is no maverick.

He fully supported the Iraq war and said that it would be an easy fight. Six years, over 4000 American lives, thousands of Iraqi lives, and a trillion dollars later, Mr. McCain is saying he warned that the war was going to be hard.

He picked a trophy running mate in an attempt to steal Hillary voters from Sen. Obama. We all know that there is no comparison between Ms. Palin and Sen. Clinton. Ms. Palin is clearly not a choice and not ready to be VP or President.

As for the economy, Ms. McCain is going to continue the Bush policies which got us into this mess. His policies will not help ordinary middle class Americans. He will give large corporations enormous tax breaks. His own wife will get a $360,000 break and Joe the plumber will get sent packing because he will have outlived his usefulness.

Sen. McCain’s desperate attempts to polarize our Nation and create division to win the White House is desperate and immoral. We can’t trust him now and we can’t trust him in the white house. We can’t take the risk of having another 4 years of Bush. We all love our Nation and can’t let the same thievery continue.

Is it socialism?

Is it socialism when McCain takes middle-class income tax dollars and give his wife a $360,000 a year tax break? How about the billions of dollars in tax breaks given to big oil when they are pulling in record profits ($15 Billion in profits for one company during only one quarter. This equates to about $60 Billion in profits)? Is that socialism? Our tax dollars funds that plan. I guess we have two candidates who are socialists. The question is who will provide real change for our Nation. The answer is Barack Obama.
